The Excellence in Teaching Award

Congratulations to Dr. Matt Barros! Dr. Barros is the recipient of this year's Excellence in Teaching Award the the Social Sciences. Since the recipient is determined by student vote, his selection clearly reflects the impact that Dr. Barros has had in his students lives. We are very fortunate to have him in the program.

The Excellence in Teaching Award, formerly known as the Distinguished Teaching Award, was established to honor and publicly recognize an outstanding faculty member in Arts & Sciences for exceptional teaching. Arts & Sciences has a long history of distinguished educators and innovative teaching that enriches the lives of undergraduate and graduate students, and the establishment of this award is a tribute to this tradition.

ArtSci Council has organized this event entirely through students to celebrate professors in ArtSci that have made a significant difference in students’ lives, whether by galvanizing a newly found appreciation in students for the subject, being not only a professor to students but a friend, or empowering students to pursue their dreams. This is the perfect opportunity for students to show their support for their favorite professors and staff members!
